Synopsis

On the morning of 28 March 1977, the news broke: renowned composer of ‘Ode to Joy’, Waldo de los Ríos, had been found dead, his face struck by two shotgun blasts.

The documentary ‘Waldo’ is a project that seeks to unravel all the secrets behind the public figure of the celebrated Argentine musician, who had been based in Spain since the 1960s. In the course of our investigation, we discover a life of fame, luxury, passion, homophobia, dictatorship, esotericism, depression, loneliness, an enigmatic suicide… and oblivion. We seek to understand how one of the greatest composers in history turned his own life into a requiem.
